Hiatus

Was pretty surprised today. I got back from work this week to find over 30 emails from readers who were asking when RZK's hiatus would be over. Many of them stating they don't like the rather slow release rate of the series that were switched to other groups. I can certainly agree that yeah, they the releases of our series being continued/done by other groups is slower than most would like, especially myself considering I'm both a reader and a scanlator, but it's going to be some time until RZK comes back. Not due to the lack of wanting to, but as I said in my previous post, my real life has taken precedence over scanlating, and with a job where I'm literally out of my home every weekday and have access to the internet for less than an hour a day during those days, it's just not in the cards.

I will say however, that whenever RZK does come back, we will be taking back our projects that have not been completely scanlated. This includes Tonari no Kashiwagi-san, Ore to Ichino, Kitsune no Akuma to Kuroi Madousho, Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo, and Omae wo Otaku. We'll also be continuing all the other series we were working on at the time of hiatus, again, if the scanlation has not been completed. And we will be continuing the RZK philosophy of picking up manga in scanlation hell.

I've already got more than enough people willing to do work (including translating), whenever we do come back so staff will not be an issue. Though whenever that time does come, I'll be a translator myself, so if they happen to be busy, well, that's what I'll be there for.

Anyway, I am sorry that this hiatus has come, as it's not only impacted RZK, but I was unable to complete Hanamaru Kindergarten for CXC Scans, and I managed to get myself the "shortest tenure award" in Red Hawk thanks to having to leave there. The thought of having manga that I both love working on and reading not being done at all anymore, or being released slowly (usually with bad quality at that...), is not a very fun thing to see.

  1. Group's dead...even if you implied it wasn't dead a month ago, lol.

Oh well, you can always come back when someone wants to translate for you...you may need a different nick then. <.<

Your real life issues...comes not as a surprise if you behave the same in real life as you do on the net. >.>

    1. Group wasn't dead right after the incident. Work still continued on the series.

Like I said in the post, I already have more than enough people willing to work for me, including translators. Even if that weren't the case, I'm currently learning Japanese and will be a translator myself whenever the time comes for RZK to come back.

I never stated there were "real life issues." Simply that my real life got too busy for me to continue scanlating. Not the same thing.

  2. Implying I'll want to be welcome backed.

  3. Implying you can learn sufficient moon to translate decently in such a short amount of time. People without even two years of continuous experience learning moon shouldn't even bother trying to translate, they'll just fuck up in various places.

  4. Implying people won't shun you when you come back. Seriously, though, aren't you trying too hard to be like PROzess?

  5. I honestly don't care what people think of me. My only goal as a scanlator is to release manga for the readers.

I am nothing like him, nor do I want to be anything like him.

  6. it's pitiful to see that you want to resurrect your group but you dont have enough power to do it coz most of the scanlators hates you and to think that u come up that there is some people who wants to translate for you hehehe!! guys like you are just pretending to be liked by the others yet everyone hates you lol.., change urself dude change ur attitude if you want to make a group.., not all the attention is yours.., (and to think that you use topaz on tanks and call it an HQ)LOL!!

    1. I /do/ have enough power. I've already confirmed with at least a dozen people that they are willing to work for Renzokusei if they are available at the time I am able to bring the group back. Even if they are not, I would be able to continue the group myself until I'm able to re-recruit for the group. You can think what you want, but not very many people actually hate me. Yes, there are those vocal few, but I've gotten more queries on IRC and emails than people who ragged on me. I am not the only person who uses any amount of Topaz on tanks, and I know at least 3 people considered great cleaners who do so. I don't think all the attention is mine, in fact I know it's not. It never was, and never will be. Not sure why you added that in there.

Renzokusei /will/ be coming back, but as said before, I have no idea when it will be. Whenever it does, we will continue the regular releases we're accustomed to doing.

  7. Yeahyeah, you're done for, and we will never see you again. We know that already.
Heard you also got the boot at red-hawk. Now you don't belong in any groups anymore. Goodbye derek.

    1. Not done for, never will be.

Wasn't kicked from RedHawk or CXC. I left both of them the same time I put RZK on official hiatus. You can ask both Cross (CXC) and Naselare (RHS).

  8. You do realise the irony in this post, right? Previously, you were praising other groups for taking up those series you were working on since you went on hiatus.

Yet, in this post, you claim that you're going to take back the non-completely scanlated series. Why? What's the point of doing that when your goal is to shed light on series that haven't even seen the light of day by Western audiences/continue those which have been dropped? Surely the slow release pace/subpar quality wouldn't force you to do this. And even if you do attempt to retrieve them, what makes you think that the other group is going to relent and give them to you? This will bring more harm than good.

I suggest starting anew and focusing on the obscure series that need attention. After all, isn't that what RZK is all about?

    1. I realize there is some there, yes. I am grateful that other groups managed to grab some of the series we were doing, but when getting a lot of emails from readers, it just gave me the easy answer to something I had already been thinking about.

Since the incident, 11 chapters between 6 different series were released by other groups. 2 of those chapters were already 1 step away from release at the time, just never got released by us. Kashiwagi is nearly 2 months behind, Otaku is 3, Kitsune no Akuma's entire vol2 remains untouched, and several other series we were doing haven't been touched at all. As I'm someone who loves manga, and loved working on these series, I am not going to just sit and let the series I loved so much be treated like "just another series" and have them go without the work on them that they deserve.

When RZK gets back, we'll be continuing the series we were already working on, and we will do the same thing we did before, bringing back the series in scanlation hell that need the attention.

    2. That's certainly understandable. As someone who has worked with scanlation groups, I understand that there will always be a sense of attachment and pride associated with whatever series you work on.

I will, however, caution you to not undertake as many series when you do return. It's fine to be enthusiastic, but perhaps this time a narrower focus will be ideal.

In any case, I wish you the best in your endeavours, both in the real world and the scanlation world.

  9. Yeah, because your releases were very consistent and timely...
Regarding oniiai and sakurasou, it was your TLers that are currently holding up the releases. Since they tend to go MIA without warning...
