A Call to Arms (Hands?)

I had been thinking about it, but after seeing our ever-growing backlog of stuff lately, I'm making this public post to try and get some more help. Everything after the jump.

For several months now, we've gathered quite the lineup of manga we work on, due to both mine and unc's overzealous nature late in 2012 and early this year (though largely mine). Which was perfectly fine at the time, because I had the time available to spend on scanlation. Since late February though, I haven't had the time to spend on scanlation that I'd really like to have. I still largely spend my weekends doing scanlation, but on the days I work, I have little to no time to do anything, which is 3 to 5 days every week.

This has led to a considerably large backlog of translations, that continues to grow, as I was until about a week ago the only cleaner, and I continue to be the only redrawer in Renzokusei. We have a couple cleaners that do work for us on a few specific series (Maso23 and Zack), as well as our partnership with the Spanish group Okami no Fansub for redrawing, which have helped immensely just by themselves, but they are not sole RZK members, and do not have a lot of time available, so many series are still behind on their editing.

We are still a really small group. Our active staff has never really reached more than a dozen people, and while I am still incredibly grateful for all the help my staff has provided to contribute to 197 releases so far, we need more. We don't even need a lot more staff. Just one more person that's experienced helps immensely. Our biggest staff need is in the editing department. Editing comprises of Cleaning, Redrawing, and Typesetting. We can always use more translators, proofreaders, and dedicated quality checkers as well, but those are the three main positions we are lacking available staff at.

If you're interested in applying, there are a few ways you can go about it.

Our work is done on a first come first served basis, meaning that anyone can work on any series when chapters are available for work. There are a few exceptions to this (for various reasons), but because we do work like this, joining Renzokusei means you can work on any of the following series;

  1. wow 43 titles...

    Rofl this reminds me of the shoujo groups 5 years back who took up too many titles and then either dropped 90% of them or died out in the process of trying to release them all.

    So how much is going to get dropped if you don't get enough staff? :o

    1. With the exception of when this group inevitably closes (because every group will at some point), we will never drop a series.
