It's been a little while

Everything after the jump.

It's been a while everyone. First, I'm really sorry about that. It was never my intention at the beginning of November to just kind of die off without any word. Going into my few months off, the plan was the same as it was the last two years, spend most of my time just doing scanlation work again. But back then as much as part of me wanted to, I couldn't find the drive to do it like I had done in the past.

I've been scanlating now for four years. When I first started I wasn't working so I had all the time in the world, and was still relatively fresh to anime and manga in general. Once I got a job I persevered not only for the original reasons I started it, but because I really enjoyed doing it. But last year my drive to scanlate slowly but surely just died down, and that's rather evident in the amount of releases we had in the second half of the year. Eventually, scanlating became a second job with no pay off. I was spending my weekdays working a job that exhausted the hell out of me, to come home on the weekends to spend the majority of my time exhausting myself for a hobby that gets me no income and never will. So, my job's offseason became not only a break from my real job but from scanlating. Again I am rather sorry that I didn't make any sort of announcement, but for a period I just wanted to distance myself completely from anything anime/manga related and eventually just kinda forgot I needed to post something.

The above may read like we're closing, but partially out of a weird obligation I feel not only to readers but to myself, and that I still enjoy scanlation work, we will not be closing. Though there was definitely a period of time where I seriously considered doing so.

Some may wonder, why not just get staff? Well, I've tried that many times. Back when we were still a relatively fresh group we had a lot of staff. We grew at an exponential rate that I really did not expect. But unfortunately, I am obsessive compulsive, and stupidly stubborn, so I'm unfortunately a little hard to work with at times, as some people have experienced themselves. I'd love to get staff and be able to release at the rate we used to, but I don't have the time to train people and the experienced editors that could meet my expectations in quality are all in other groups and have their time taken up, so barring some weird miracle, I will continue being the sole editor of the group.

What this does however mean, is that as a group, we're going to be seriously downsizing how much time we spend on scanlating, and the amount of series we work on. As much as I once hated the idea, we're going to be prioritizing some series over others and have both main series we work on and keep up to date, and side series which we'll work on periodically, and eventually catch up on/finish them.

Releases will begin back up rather soon, and I'll be posting some more info regarding our changes and series updates then.

Top Priority
Mushoku Tensei ~Isekai Ittara Honki Dasu~
Tonari no Kashiwagi-san
Yumekuri

Medium/Low Priority
Juukinzoku Kanojo
Sexual Hunter Riot
Nozomi x Kimio
Hatoko-san to Rabukome
Dansai Bunri no Crime Edge

I'm aware that OTS picked up Mushoku Tensei in our absence, but I love the series too much, and it won't take much to catch up on it. The medium/low priority series are going to be worked on mostly in that order. We're doing it that way so we can make sure we finish the series quicker, instead of there being an even longer wait inbetween releases for a series. We'll try to pepper in releases of each series earlier when we can.

In addition to the above, we're also going to be putting more series on an indefinite hold and dropping some more series, they are;

On Hold
Choi Hime
Hentai Ouji to Warawanai Neko.
Kin no Kanojo, Gin no Kanojo
Oniichan dakedo Ai Sae Areba Kankeinai yo ne

Dropped
Dungeon ni Deai wo Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru Darou ka
Plunderer (being continued by MTO)
Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo
Zetsurin! (being continued by Psylocke Scans)

The remaining series that are not being put on hold or dropped are currently being decided on what we're going to do with them, or they're caught up on scanlation and on hiatus.

And unrelated to scanlation, I've spent most of my break playing Rocket League. It's one damn good game.

  7. oh man a post! So happy to see you're still alive, but sorry to hear of all the pressure. I'm also happy to hear that you're keeping Nozo x Kimi and Tonari no Kashiwagi-san as those are two of your translations that I've been reading. If you / its not too much trouble, can you please please pleaseeeee keep Kimi wa Midara na Boku no Joou. Though only 9 chapters have been scanlated thus far its got me hooked!

  8. Kimi wa Midara is still on hiatus or something. Despite two apparent announcements that it would be returning, it didn't actually. Assuming it does ever actually resume, we will still be doing it.
