To add onto Demo's post a bit, we were indeed contacted by someone from Digital Manga Inc. today. Before making that post we also verified that it was real, as well. My heart sunk a little bit when I read those two lines, as I was fully expecting to be told that they wanted us to stop scanlating the manga entirely. We do multiple licensed series, so I figured it was only a matter of time until something happened, but I was very pleasantly surprised by this.
We will be complying with their requests, which include not only to add a page about the official license, but as well as removing chapters from Batoto and DDL links once they are officially released in English. I'm not too keen on that second part, but it's either that or we don't scanlate it at all and/or risk being shutdown as a group, and I don't want either. We will be doing the former (adding a page/text) about official licenses with every other series that is licensed in English as well.

ReplyDeleteis that means you can put the latest one, which're haven't been released yet?
for example.
the latest chapter at Japan is 100
and you have scanlate from 1-100
but DMI only has released the first 8 volume (with 10 chapter per volume)
so you must take down ddl/batoto from chapter 1-80
but can have 81-100 until it's officially released by DMI.
OR
even just after 1 volume release, all must go down?
after reading the last 2 post, i think it'll be the first option.

Well, you have the right idea, yeah. Basically say volume 1 is released in English, and has chapters 1-6, so they'd want us to remove the links for only those chapters. This only applies to the volumes released in English, though. Not the ones released in Japan.
